Hailed as “two exceptional young musicians” and praised for their remarkable “sensitivity, attention to details and great expressiveness”, CHESA is a London based, emerging Viola and Piano Duo.
Xin He (Viola) and Anjulie Chen (Piano) met at the Royal Academy of Music in London in 2022 and started working together ever since. They have won second prize at the annual RAM Strings and Duo Competition in 2022 and receive coaching by Professor of Viola Martin Outram.
Besides that, they have had opportunities to play for other renowned musicians such as Amihai Grosz, Lawrence Power and Garth Knox.
CHESA is also known for a wide and diverse range of repertoire from the essential core pieces written for Viola and Piano to lesser known, transcribed works.
They both share the view that music not known very well does not mean a lack of quality, and therefore enjoy curating interesting, new and diverse programmes for Viola and Piano.
