BETTY MAKHARINKSY
SOPRANO

BETTY MAKHARINKSY soprano, trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and on the Barock Vokal programme in Mainz, Germany. Her repertoire ranges from solo Baroque lute song and consort singing (BBC R3 lunchtime concert broadcast, Dec 2023) through oratorio solos (Brahms’ Requiem at SJSS, March 2024; Haydn’s Missa in Tempore Belli at the Al Bustan Festival in Lebanon, 2023) and operatic roles (Purcell’s Fairy Queen for HGO, April 2024) through to song. Betty has given many recitals, most often with Pavel and most often of 20th-Century repertoire, across the UK and Europe. Highlights include Lerici Music Festival in Italy, Levoča Indian Summer festival in Slovakia and Pushkin House in London. Betty has toured extensively with choirs such as Oxford Consort of Voices, Hannover Band, and most recently at the Salzburg International Festival with Utopia Choir and Orchestra (c. Teodor Currentzis). Alongside singing, Betty produces classical music events, education and outreach as the co-founder of Vache Baroque (Registered UK Charity 1193591) and of Philomel Creative Circle.

PAVEL TIMOFEYEVSKY
PIANO

PAVEL TIMOFEYEVSKY is a virtuoso pianist, composer, arranger and lecturer. He has received numerous prizes and accolades including BBC/Guardian Young Composer of the Year. Pavel has appeared at most major UK concert venues; concert tours and TV and radio appearances abroad include the USA, China, Canada, much of Europe, South Africa, Kenya and India. Pavel has premiered many contemporary works, featured on the album ISLAS (composer Ian Stewart) and recorded music by Hungarian composer Hans Gal with Ensemble Burletta. He recorded the soundtrack and starred in the US documentary “Tchaikovsky” and has composed music for films, including for Russian TV and Russia's oldest Animated film studio Souyzmultfilm. Pavel is the Co-founder and Artistic Director of Philomel Creative Circle, a concert series in London, currently in residence at the Francis Crick Institute, as well as the Founder and Director of Philomel Music Academy, a summer course in residence at The Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey. In 2023 Pavel was appointed Music Director of Devon Opera, UK.
