THE RED HEDGEHOG is launching an appeal to enable the purchase of the Bechstein grand piano which has been generously loaned to us for the last few years.by Paul Leverett of Piano Restorations Limited, the acclaimed piano restoration company in Buckinghamshire.

After 4 years, it has become time to make The Red Hedgehog the permanent home for this beautiful instrument, admired by musicians and audience alike.  
The instrument was rebuilt from top to toe by Piano Restorations, with a new soundboard, strings, felts, hammers, tuning plank, dampers, modern action, re-gilded frame and new polyester casework.  It has a lovely, singing tone which the acoustic at The Red Hedgehog shows off to perfection.   

The target is £25,000 to purchase the instrument, which will allow us to continue running our concerts
in this much-loved, intimate venue.

We offer the deepest possible thanks to pianist PAUL SMITH who has organised the tour and all of the other musicians upping sticks and travelling to London with him to support this enterprise.  It is admirable of them all to offer this extraordinary support and speaks not only to the immense value of the arts in general and the obvious need to support independent venues, but exemplifies how vital music is, specifically, to our inner lives and well-being.
